Time for some belt tightening

Why can't the Kane County officials really represent the needs of the people who elected them? Their constituents are going through the worst economic times since the Great Depression, and we need our officials to lead and make decisions to help weather these trying times.

With their citizens facing high unemployment, frozen or decreased wages and huge losses in retirement savings, the best the county and town officials can do is increase our real estate taxes by 3 percent on inflated assessments that are 10 percent to 20 percent higher than the actual real values of our homes?

We need the elected officials to make the same tough decisions as their private business counterparts and cut spending and expenses during these tough economic times so they can hold the line or even reduce our tax load. We do not have the bottomless pockets they think we have and we can't just increase our income every year like the taxing bodies. Our current elected officials have to embody our needs or we'll have to start voting the incumbents out of office until we do find people to truly support our situation.
