Stopping voucher plan the right move
It's a good thing that the school voucher idea died in legislation recently. If vouchers ever do become the norm I fear that the result would be worrisome at best.
High performing schools would eventually become mediocre schools, and mediocre schools would be reduced to poor performing schools. Ultimately, the students would not gain any ground academically. Those who transferred with voucher in hand would end up in the same situation in which they began.
I'm relieved that this idea was stopped before it gained traction.
