Boozer OK with MJ's shadow

Here's a glance at some of the latest developments as the Bulls search for a new coach and prepare to court top free agents:

Boozer's not afraid: Utah power forward Carlos Boozer isn't scared off by Michael Jordan's legacy in Chicago and doesn't think any of the summer's other free agents will be, either.

"A lot of people in my era, in my age group, we watched M.J. do what he did: Win championships, be the face of the NBA and continue to dominate the game," Boozer said during an appearance on WMVP's "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on Wednesday. "I think most of the free agents this summer (think it's) probably an attractive thing to have that history, where M.J. played, where (Scottie) Pippen played for those six championships. So I think that will be more of a positive thing than a negative thing."

Webber disagrees: Chris Webber never changed teams as a free agent during the prime years of his career. But he does see the championship history in Chicago as a negative.

"Does (LeBron James) want to play in Michael Jordan's shadow?" Webber said on the Dan Patrick radio show. "I just don't know if that's the place you want to be. I don't think it's as glorious and beautiful to players as some people think. I think he's a long way from going to Chicago."

Sure, Chris, following Jordan in Chicago would be miserable, while the pressure of single-handedly reversing Cleveland's dismal sports history is absolutely fantastic.

Thibodeau still coaching: ESPN claimed New Orleans offered its coaching job to Boston assistant Tom Thibodeau. Not sure how he's supposed to accept a new job while the Celtics are still going in the playoffs. The Bulls remain in pursuit, but probably won't talk to Thibodeau until the Eastern Conference finals end.
