No decision yet on Sara Lee unit sale

Joaquin Almunia, the European Union antitrust commissioner, said his department hasn't yet decided whether to extend its review of Unilever's plan to acquire Sara Lee Corp.'s shower-gel and European detergents business.

He was speaking at a press conference in Brussels today.

The deadline for an initial ruling is the end of this month, he said.

Sara Lee is based on Downers Grove.
