Lisle girls roar into Class 1A semifinals

Emily DeLong's one-touch blast from 18 yards out at 2 minutes, 17 seconds into the third overtime gave Lisle's girls soccer team a 3-2 victory on Tuesday over Francis Parker in the Class 1A Chicago Christian sectional championship.

Lisle (16-7-2) moves into the 1A state semifinals, 5:30 p.m. Friday at North Central College, against Manteno, a 1-0 winner Tuesday over Rochester at the Urbana University sectional.

Nicole Urban's goal from a Lexi Britton assist gave the Lions a 1-0 halftime lead. Despite a second Urban goal, from an assist by Zandy Dan-Tholen, Francis Parker forced overtime with 2 second-half goals.

Two scoreless overtime sessions passed before Urban battled to win a throw-in and took the ball to the end-line, then sent it back to DeLong for the game-winning goal into the far corner of the Parker net. Lisle keeper Vanessa Roach made 5 saves.
