What's so wrong about Arizona law?
I am really confused about the illegal immigration hassle. I am trying to be a good citizen and Christian. However, I don't understand the debate about the new Arizona law. Basically, as I understand it, the law states that it is against the law to be in that state if you are there illegally. That makes sense, even though it seems redundant. If you are here illegally, you are breaking the law.
If, as a law enforcement officer, I was looking for people who were breaking the law that says it is illegal to drive if you exceed a certain blood alcohol level, I would look for people who looked like they were driving under the influence. I don't think that would be considered profiling. If a person looks like they are in the state illegally, they should be checked. How could you tell? Who would be the most likely type of people to be there illegally? This state borders Mexico.
The other day, I was listening to a Chicago radio station. The disc jockey was going over the rules for entering the contests that the station runs. One of those rules was you must be a legal citizen and have government issued ID to prove it. I have not heard about any boycott against this station.
To enter a radio station contest, you have to be a legal citizen. To get tax supported services you don't. This does not make sense to me. I assure you that I am trying honestly to better understand this issue so that I can make informed decisions. What part of illegal don't I understand?
