Thanks for the help with Habitat homes

On behalf of the Habitat partner families receiving beautiful new or rehabbed homes, I would like to thank Nicor and the employees who volunteered their time and hard work for DuPage Habitat for Humanity during Nicor's 14th Annual Volunteer Day.

In addition to the hours of labor donated by Nicor volunteers, our organization was also presented with a generous $15,000 grant from Nicor that will be used for additional housing construction and rehabilitation.

DuPage Habitat for Humanity partners with families and the community to create affordable, livable housing - housing that we believe is vital to sustaining a stable community - using volunteer labor and quality donated materials. We then sell those homes to qualifying families at no profit to Habitat, and at zero percent interest to the homebuyers. Thanks to the support of Nicor employees, their families, and friends, we were able to raise the walls for the two new 2010 Habitat for Humanity residences, and paint the walls on a Habitat rehabbed home, on Volunteer Day this year.

It is truly inspiring to see community members come together in support of Habitat's mission to provide local families with sustainable housing that will offer a hand up, not a hand out. DuPage Habitat for Humanity is pleased to benefit from Nicor's philanthropic commitment, and we are proud to partner with a company that promotes corporate citizenship by investing their time, talent, and resources into our local community.
