Stay out of other state's business

I don't know about the rest of you, but I see a disturbing trend developing. We are ostensibly the United States of America. We are supposed to be one nation dealing with the rest of the world. And indeed we once were, but we are on the verge of becoming 50 states fighting among ourselves.

Each state makes laws to improve conditions for its citizens and that is as it should be. But, alas, liberalism has reared its ugly head and instead of working on their own problems we have states telling other states what laws they should be allowed to pass.

The law Arizona passed to improve the safety of its citizens has been praised by some states and condemned by others. Some states are calling for a boycott of Arizona because they disapprove of the law. If they think that weakening the economy of another state by boycotting it will make us a stronger nation they are delusional.

It doesn't take a genius to see where this is going. Now that pandora's box has been opened we can expect to see states that pass laws against gay marriage boycotting states that allow it, and states that allow it boycotting states that legislate against it.

Perhaps we will see states in the Bible Belt calling for a boycott of Nevada for permitting prostitution and gambling.

Each state should clean up its own act before criticizing another one. If we continue to go down this road we might end up with another civil war.
