No injuries in Naperville house fire

Three residents escaped unharmed Monday morning after fire erupted in the kitchen of their home at 1804 Sunrise Court in southeast Naperville.

The residents, who were in upstairs bedrooms when the fire began, were alerted by smoke detectors and able to escape before smoke and heat reached the second floor, authorities said.

Firefighters arrived at 6:37 a.m. and found smoke coming from the front door of the house. The kitchen was fully engulfed in flames and heat and smoke were spreading rapidly throughout the building.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, but not before it caused roughly $150,000 damage and left the house temporarily uninhabitable. Authorities said the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross and likely will stay with relatives until the house is repaired.

Firefighters were assisted at the scene by Naperville police and members of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District.
