U2 cancels Chicago gig on 360 Degree tour
The band U2 has canceled their 360 Degree tour stop in Chicago on July 6, tour promoters announced early Tuesday morning.
A message on the bands web site at u2.com said the band has canceled 16 shows in North America, including their show in Chicago on July 6.
The cancellations start in Salt Lake City on June 3rd and span until New Jersey's Meadowlands Stadium concert on July 19th.
All the shows are expected to be rescheduled in 2011.
U2 tour producer/promoter Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, said, "Although we understand the disappointment to U2 fans, first and foremost comes the recovery of Bono."
The singer suffered a serious back injury last week while rehearsing for the tour, promoters said. Bono underwent emergency surgery in Germany Friday, was released from the hospital Monday, and is returning home to recuperate.
Additional details on rescheduled dates will follow in the coming days, tour officials said. Fans are encouraged to hold on to their tickets until information about the rescheduled dates when its confirmed.
