Work of St. Charles residents on display

"Art Around the Corner," an exhibit coordinated by the Downtown St. Charles Partnership's Fine Art Show Committee, will spotlight the work of artists who live in St. Charles in May.

Their work is showcased in various businesses and venues such as the city of St. Charles Municipal Building, 2 E. Main St.; Copper Fox Café, 305 W. Main St.; Il Giardino del Dolce, 131 S. First St.; Isacco Kitchen, 210 Cedar St.; JP Jewelers, 151 S. First St.; McDowell Remodeling, 521 W. Main St.; Rx Café/Bakery, 113 W. Main St.; SG Too, 116 Cedar Ave.; St. Charles Heritage Center, 215 E. Main St.; St. Charles Park District, 101 S. Second St.; Town House Books and Cafe, 312 N. Second Ave.; and the What-Not-Shoppe, 106 E. Main St.

"Art Around the Corner" maps will be available at all display locations.

Media such as sculpture, glass, photography, watercolors, oils, pen and ink, etching and gouache - a method of painting with opaque watercolors mixed with a preparation of gum - will be exhibited.

Artists include Cindy Alexander, Guy Bellaver, Cesira Bonin, Bill Faleer, Nick Freeman, Audrey Hauser, Robert Krawczyk, Jim Manos, Sandra Mehl, Howard Russo, Peggy Sue Seehafer, David Stevens and Todd Willing.

The St. Charles Fine Art Show will cap off the month Memorial Day weekend, May 29-30, on the east side of the Fox River on First Avenue between Main Street and Illinois Avenue.

The juried show features more than 100 of the best artists from across the country. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 29, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 30.
