New homes in Volo look out onto open space, ponds

Homeowners at Symphony Meadows in Volo live in harmony with the natural beauty of 130 acres of scenic wetlands, conservation areas, ponds and parks.

Now desirable new home sites where the front of homes will face expansive open space and ponds are now available at the master-planned development by Cambridge Homes.

Located east of Route 120 off Gilmer Road, Symphony Meadows features all its home sites within a short walk of natural open spaces where residents can enjoy a variety of birds, wildlife and native plants.

"Symphony Meadows is in a wonderful location because it's at the crossroads of western Lake County at Routes 120 and 12 with great access to shopping going south and east," said Dave Smith, vice president of sales and marketing for Cambridge Homes. "Also, it is surrounded by a forest preserve, which is a great benefit now and in the future."

With a choice of four different home styles, Symphony Meadows attracts a broad range of buyers. Single-family homes include the Prairie series with seven plans including two ranch designs and the Horizon series with nine plans including one ranch.

Also available are the Spring Valley attached single-family homes priced from $169,900 and the Seaboard series townhouses priced from $155,990.

Featured in the Horizon Series, the Vista model home priced from $212,990 features 2,799 square feet, four bedrooms, 21/2 baths, first-floor den, second-floor family and laundry rooms and basement.

Shown with many upgrades, this spacious family home features a contemporary flair and bright colors that homeowners will remember. Lots of artwork and floral and candle displays contribute to the home's warm, inviting feel.

Coppers, reds, oranges and a dash of purple fill the home with color throughout. The open living and dining room show dark wood furniture and multicolor sofa and chairs. Topped with a huge candle centerpiece, the dining table serves six. A half wall separates the dining and family rooms, but it is still open for family gatherings or entertaining guests.

In the casual living space to the rear, the fireplace with marble surround takes center stage with a huge clock above and artwork on either side. A copper sofa and two chairs provide comfortable seating while accessories top the coffee table. Lots of windows allow in the natural light.

With the open family room and kitchen, the cook can join in the fun. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, furniture quality cabinetry topped with granite, center island with storage and pantry. With orange place settings, a breakfast table looks outside and doors lead out to the concrete patio.

Occupying a quiet corner on the main level, the den provides homeowners with a private spot for working and has plenty of space for a desk, bookcase and two chairs. A half bath with pedestal sink sits nearby.

Upstairs, a second family room with a movie motif is furnished with a large sectional, two chairs, media center and bookcases. This flexible space can be used as a TV room, game room or computer/study area.

The master suite has a rich, luxurious feel with a cathedral ceiling, four-poster bed topped with a velvet copper and gold-trimmed spread, two walk-in closets and a red chair for reading or relaxing before bed.

The private bath features a European height vanity with two sinks, tub with window above and walk-in shower with clear glass doors. Candles and artwork create a restful ambience.

A full hall bath serves the three secondary bedrooms.

A young girl's room done in soft green and white with white shears is perfect for the little princess. With brown, blue and green colors, a bedroom is decorated for the boy who loves skateboarding, soccer and cars. And skateboarders rule in another boy's room done in orange and green and furnished with bunk beds and a desk.

There are also two single-family model homes in the Prairie Series open for viewing. Here you'll see arched openings and other standout architectural features.

In contrast to its country setting, Symphony Meadows is close to shopping, services and the commuter train as well as major highways. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby Chain O' Lakes, forest preserves, golf courses and trails for which the area is known. Volo is best known for the Volo Bog with many nature-oriented programs and the antique car museum, home to the Batmobile.
