Teachers should take pay cuts

A recent letter by Helen Clark of Algonquin gave a most accurate reference that teachers need to stop complaining. I am in total agreement with her comments as are the majority of my neighbors.

I would add that these teachers would have jobs if they would take a 20 percent cut in pay. Plus the highly overpaid superintendents, a 50 percent cut in pay. Then, if and when the economy improves only a 3- to 5-percent cost-of-living raise should be given. After all, you are getting better benefits than most companies give.

I don't need my taxes raised just to pay your salaries. If you want more money, go get a second job.
