Not guilty plea entered on behalf of ND TE Ragone

LAGRANGE, Ind. -- A plea of not guilty has been entered for Notre Dame tight end Mike Ragone on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

The plea was entered for Ragone by attorney Jeffrey Stesiak. Ragone did not appear during the arraignment Monday afternoon before LaGrange County Superior Judge George Brown. No date was set for his next court appearance.

Ragone was stopped by state police on the Indiana Toll Road about 8:10 a.m. on May 8. The trooper making the stop smelled marijuana, searched the car and found two baggies of a leafy substance in the purse of Ragone's girlfriend. A field test indicated it was marijuana.

Stesiak said he had no comment on the charge against Ragone.
