Wealth threshold is too random
The politicians in Springfield and Washington have arbitrarily and unilaterally decided wealthy citizens are people who earn $200,000-$250,000 or more, annually.
People who earn handsome salaries generally are intelligent, self-motivating, tenacious, determined, and persevering. The politicians want to increase the tax burden on these higher-end earners to cover their own inept financial decisions.
It is difficult to envision highly paid, intelligent people standing there and taking it.
They will find many lawful, honest means to decrease their tax bill. Then, with the monetary mess still in place, the pols will wave a magic wand and, voila! (puff of smoke), people who earn $100,000 per year are now considered wealthy and their tax bills head into the sky. Folks who earn $50,000 per year, struggling to raise a family and pay all the bills, take heart. You, too, will one day be considered wealthy.
