Chicago Sky (0-1) at New York Liberty (0-0)
When: 3 p.m. today
Where: Madison Square Garden
TV: Comcast Channel 100
Last time: On Saturday, the Sky lost at Connecticut 74-61.
The skinny: The Sky has no time to wallow about its lackluster performance in the season opener against the Connecticut Sun. It's right back on the horse against a team that, like Connecticut, and even the Sky, was significantly retooled over the off-season. ... New York debuts a lineup that includes the centerpiece of April's three-team blockbuster trade that sent perennial all-star and Chicago native Cappie Pondexter from the WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury to the "Big Apple." Despite playing alongside Diana Taurasi, who was the MVP of the WNBA last season and the focus of the Phoenix offense, Pondexter still averaged 19.1 points per game. ... The Sky was also involved in the Pondexter deal, getting former Liberty stars Shameka Christon and Cathrine Kraayeveld in exchange for sending all-star forward Candice Dupree to Phoenix. ... The Sky, which got burned in Connecticut by the inside game of rookie Tina Charles, will face another tall task in 6-foot-4 Liberty center Janel McCarville, who averaged 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season...Sky center Sylvia Fowles is coming off a solid effort in the opener. She scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
