Parochial bus cuts amplify burden
Dr. Arndt, shame on you and the District 300 school board for balancing the budget for the education deficits on the backs of the parents of the parochial school students. Those parents already have double the financial burden and they actually help your budget. The backlash could be to get the parochial school students back into your schools, and then you'd have to bus them and educate them.
We all suffer from the economy. We fully understand cuts have to be made somewhere in the state. This cannot be but a minuscule part of saving the education budget and a large part of satisfying the parents of kids in District 300. You are making a splash politically.
By getting this measure, it seems you want to make families believe this could help their children in some way. Bus stops are seldom longer and space is seldom an issue because a handful of parochial students ride the bus.
I am a grandmother of parochial school students in District 300.
