St. Charlesbull; Michael K. Bertrand, 21, of the 1300 block of Hampton Course, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct/public drunkenness, according to a police report. Police on patrol observed Bertrand tip over a red, antique, soda machine decorating the outside of a downtown business. Police questioned Bertrand and observed him having balancing problems, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. bull; Zoran Krstic, 41, of the 500 block of Timber Ridge Drive in Carol Stream, was charged Sunday with battery, according to a police report. Officers responded to a traffic accident at Peck and Campton Hills roads to find a woman crying in a white Dodge Grand Caravan. The woman told police Krstic cut her off while approaching the Campton Hills soccer fields. The woman was able to avoid an accident and go around Krstic's vehicle. Kristic then sped up, pulled in front of the woman and began slamming on his brakes. Eventually, the woman drove into the rear of Krstic's vehicle. The woman said Krstic then exited his vehicle, began yelling at her, then reached through her window, grabbed her by the hair began pulling her toward him causing her to strike her head against the door. A male passer-by then intervened. Krstic told police the woman hit his vehicle three times, and he didn't know why. He was concerned for the baby in his vehicle. Two witnesses supported the woman's version of the events.bull; Dakota A. Tactikos, 18, of the 1700 block of Cumberland Green Drive, was charged May 5 with retail theft, according to a police report. Store security at a Sears on the 3700 block of East Main Street observed Tactikos take a digital media player from a display, take it out to the outdoor furniture section and remove the player from the packaging. Tactikos then placed the player in his pocket and attempted to leave the store.Genevabull; Lisa J. Wivinis, 52, of the 6700 block of Meadowcrest Drive in Downers Grove, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Sunday at Circa, 123 S. Third St., and charged with retail theft, according to a police report. She is accused of stealing a black finial, five glass eggs, three plastic-foam eggs and 10 moss balls from the store.bull; A 12-inch table saw, an 18-inch nail gun and an electric planer, all Dewalt brand, and a tool bag with miscellaneous tools, were stolen out of an unlocked van in a driveway in the 1200 block of Herrington Place between noon May 6 and 9 a.m. Saturday, according to police.Kane Countybull; A man was awakened by the sound of thieves stealing his pickup truck at 1:49 a.m. Friday in the 38W100 block of Tanglewood Drive near Batavia, police said. The vehicle was equipped with the OnStar navigation system, so OnStar representatives were able to track the vehicle to a field near Beith Road and Route 38, where it was abandoned.bull; An Elgin-area couple recently reported they were swindled out of more than $20,000. The report was filed at 11:30 a.m. May 6, stemming from an incident in the 10N700 block of Second Street. The couple said they shipped cash to an address in Aurora, Colo., after receiving telephone calls that told them much more money would be returned to them. The caller then called again recently, saying they were with the Internal Revenue Service and would "freeze their accounts" unless they sent more money. They told deputies they had taken cash advances on credit cards and a home-equity loan to come up with the $20,000. Deputies traced the phone number to a mobile phone of a person in Aurora, Colo.bull; Jodie A. Dover, 27, of the 2000 block of Yolane Drive in Sugar Grove, was charged with fleeing or eluding police and reckless driving, after a chase through Aurora and North Aurora around 6 p.m. May 5, according to a police report. Sheriff's deputies, responding to a request for help from Warrenville police on a report of a stolen vehicle, followed her from Indian Trail and Church roads in Aurora to Route 25, to Sullivan Road, to Randall Road, to Mooseheart Road, to Route 31, to Oak Street, through a subdivision, back to Randall and back to Sullivan, before she pulled into the driveway of her former residence and parked the car. Deputies say she disobeyed a stop sign and a red light along the way.bull; Jeremy R. Hardman, 22, of the 200 block of North First Street in Geneva, was arrested at his home at 5:27 p.m. Friday after deputies executing a search warrant reported finding 3.7 grams of marijuana, several pipes, a digital scale and plastic zip bags, according to a police report. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacturing or delivery of cannabis (more than 2.5 grams but fewer than 10) and possession of cannabis (more than 2.5 grams but fewer than 10).
