Man jailed for intimidating girls at Palatine restaurant

A Cook County judge sentenced a 28-year-old Palatine man to 10 days in Cook County Jail Thursday in exchange for his guilty plea to one count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor that carries a possible sentence of 30 days in jail.

Police say Arturo Borg, whose address is not listed in court records, behaved in an unreasonable manner when he approached three juvenile girls at a Palatine restaurant earlier this year.

Upon imposing the sentence, Cook County Circuit Court Judge Bridget Hughes acknowledged the defendant's extensive criminal background which includes a 2001 conviction for criminal sexual assault for which Borg received a four-year prison sentence.

"There were no allegation of any sexual offenses, but you did say something to scare these little girls," said Hughes who granted him credit for two days he has already served.

She also told Borg that if he comes before her on another violation and is found guilty, his penalty could be more severe.

Court records show that Borg has also been convicted of shoplifting, criminal damage to property, public indecency, reckless conduct, possession of alcohol by a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
