N. Carolina-Illinois to meet in ACC/Big 10 Challenge
CHAMPAIGN -- For the fourth time in the history of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Illinois will be taking on North Carolina.
The Fighting Illini have won two of the three previous Challenge meetings with the Tar Heels, once on their own Assembly Hall floor in 2002 and again at Chapel Hill in 2005.
Illini head coach Bruce Weber says he and his team are excited to have the chance to host North Carolina on Nov. 30 in Champaign. He noted the games between the two schools have been competitive and intense.
The challenge will feature 11 games between schools of what has long been considered two of the premiere college basketball conferences. Eleven of the participating teams were in the NCAA Tournament.
The ACC has won 10 of the first 11 Challenges, winning 67 of the 108 games played.
