Dogs rescued from Arlington Hts. house fire

Two dogs were saved, but a fire on the 900 block of Ridge Avenue in Arlington Heights Monday evening left a house uninhabitable, officials said.

When firefighters arrived around 7:30 p.m., they found fire in the back of the house in what appeared to be a utility room, as well as fire in the kitchen, roof and a crawl space. After about 30 minutes the fire was mainly under control, but firefighters still had to contend with fire in the attic, officials said.

No one was home at the time of the fire; the two homeowners arrive during the blaze and confirmed they were the only occupants of the house.

No one was injured. A damage estimate was not available late Monday.

Police said the cause of the fire seemed to be accidental, but police are investigating.
