Cops: Driver hit two parked vans in Carol Stream

A 20-year-old man lost control of his car and barreled into a Carol Stream home's driveway, sending two parked vans into the support beam of a three-car garage, police said. The impact caused the structure to partially collapse.

Carol Stream Commander John Jungers said police received a call at 12:03 a.m. Monday about a car that had crashed into the home on the 800 block of Tamarac Drive in the area of a "T" intersection. Jungers said charges have not been filed, pending the outcome of toxicology tests.

"It looks like he was traveling at a rate of speed too high for the neighborhood," Jungers said. "When he reached the top of the 'T' intersection, it looks like he tried to turn at the last second and went straight into this driveway and careened into a work van."

The suspect, a Carol Stream resident who has not been identified, has been released. Nobody was injured in the crash and structural damage estimates were not available.
