Zoning ignored for village's 'pet' project

Why does Arlington Heights even have zoning ordinances? All they do is give bigger and more outrageous variances to their cronies and pet projects.

Have you heard about the 87 percent density variance that the mayor is giving to her pet project on Boeger Road? The Village of Arlington Heights is actually going to change the zoning for this parcel of land from commercial to institutional and in turn cost the village over $60K per year in tax revenues (their number, not mine).

Where will it end? (At) 100 percent density variance?

How do you say "no" to other variance requests when you've already completely obliterated your own standards on a project like this?

All this for a tax revenue-losing, for profit, low income mental health facility which will be built next to a day care center and across the street from Buffalo Grove High School.

It will house 36 residents suffering from schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder and the vast majority of the residents will not be from Arlington Heights.

Why should Arlington Heights residents give up much needed commercial tax dollars for a project that won't benefit our community? Sounds like something with the community's best interests in mind, doesn't it?!

There is a village meeting on May 17, if you're truly sick and tired of these dealings by Mulder and the village board, please attend and voice your displeasure.

Arlington Heights is going downhill fast, if the residents don't put an end to this misguided "leadership," who will?
