Naperville road work startsRoad closures and limited street parking downtown will start today in Naperville as crews begin surfacing projects from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. Streets scheduled for resurfacing include Jackson Avenue between Main and Washington streets; Jefferson Avenue between Webster Street and Washington; Chicago Avenue between Main and Washington; Main Street between Chicago and Van Buren Avenue; and Webster Street between Jackson and Van Buren. Work is slated for completion by Friday, May 14.Water main work begins Crews will begin work today to replace the water main beneath St. Charles Road between Elizabeth Street and Lincoln Avenue in Lombard. The work will begin just west of the Elizabeth Street and St. Charles Road intersection and move east. During the day, traffic on St. Charles Road will be reduced to one eastbound lane, with westbound traffic being detoured from St. Charles to Main Street north, Grove Street west and Elizabeth Street south. On-street parking on St. Charles Road between Elizabeth Street and Lincoln Avenue will be eliminated temporarily; all accesses and driveways will remain open. At the end of each workday, St. Charles Road will be opened to one lane of traffic in each direction. The project is expected to be completed around the end of June. The water main is being replaced before St. Charles Road is resurfaced later this summer.Traffic crackdown coming Police will be cracking down on speeders and motorists not wearing seat belts Tuesday, May 11, along 45 miles of the Route 59 corridor from Shorewood to Barrington through Will, DuPage, Cook and Lake counties. Police agencies participating in the enforcement campaign include police departments from Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield, Shorewood, Joliet, Warrenville, West Chicago, Bartlett, Streamwood and Barrington along with state police and Will County sheriff's deputies. Each jurisdiction will implement their own enforcement action based on the needs of their communities.
