Deliver meals to seniors in Golden Diners program

The Batavia Retired Senior Volunteer Program Inc. needs volunteers.

Drivers are needed to deliver meals for the Golden Diners program. The Salvation Army began the Kane County Nutrition Program for older adults, now the Salvation Army Tri-County Golden Diner's Service, in 1974.

The program has grown from serving 225 meals a day in 1974 to more than 1,000 today with about 4,000 seniors participating. Golden Diner centers serve meals to individuals aged 60 and older. Volunteers deliver meals to homebound seniors. The time required for meal delivery each day is about 90 minutes once a month. Training will be provided for new drivers.

Drivers are also needed to help seniors get to medical appointments and do errands such as grocery shopping, banking, etc. For more information or to volunteer as a drive. Call the Batavia RSVP office at (630) 406-9993. The RSVP office is staffed 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. weekdays.
