Wolves fall 5-3, Stars take 3-2 series lead

AUSTIN, Texas - The Chicago Wolves fired a postseason-high 46 shots at Texas Stars goaltender Brent Krahn, but he wouldn't budge.

So, with the help of a hat trick from left wing Jamie Benn, the Stars came away with a 5-3 victory in Game 5 of the West Division finals Friday night at Cedar Park Center.

Texas leads series 3-2, with Game 6 on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Allstate Arena.

The Wolves outshot Texas 46-23, but Krahn's 43 saves and Benn's 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists), were the difference for the Stars.

Anthony Stewart scored 2 goals for the Wolves, and Tim Stapleton added the third with 91 seconds left in the game.

"We started the game off well, then we took stupid penalties and dug ourselves into a hole we couldn't get out of," Wolves coach Don Lever said. "We didn't quit, though, and I hope we can take that into Sunday."
