Don't blame free market

The free market is dying.

It is sad to see what is happening to this great economic engine that is America. This country is the most prosperous and productive society on earth, by a long shot. In fact, the country in second place has a GDP of only one third that of the United States. We got this way because we have always allowed and encouraged people to seek their fame and fortune without interference, and have not overly taxed their successes. But all that is changing now.

Since the home mortgage market imploded two years ago, and a new administration took over, a huge blame game has ensued. The real culprits, mostly politicians, have been able to shift the blame to free markets. Now banks and Wall Street are taking the brunt of the blame and Congress is gorging on the political hay as they propose regulation after regulation. All this in the name of "protecting the consumer."

It's hogwash and it will kill this marvelous and resilient economy.

As government grows by leaps and bounds the shackles we endure get tighter and tighter and eventually will strangle us.
