The state of Illinois will go bankrupt
I am a highly educated Illinois citizen and I forecast that the state of Illinois will eventually go bankrupt. The continual failure of our legislators to follow good business practices and put themselves far ahead of all other Illinois taxpayers with their greed in benefits, salaries, pensions and re-election gymnastics will eventually slay the goose that laid the golden egg. The citizens are being cut, poked, and stabbed which has caused sufficient bleeding that they are being permanently discouraged from hope for a better future. The Illinois citizen is becoming so cynical that he is discouraged from attempting to help improve the state financial future. Businesses will stop to grow, some will move out of state and energetic, positive thinking citizens will move to another state where they believe better opportunities exist to succeed. The momentum at the current time is a downward spiral rather than an upward spiral.
This downward spiral has been growing for so long that I do not see it being turned around for a long time if ever. Politicians talk about history and how it has a knack of repeating itself. The Romans were an energetic, popular and innovative society but the eventual greed and corruption within the ruling system eventually caused the great society to collapse. I predict this same result in the state of Illinois.
It will not happen this year or next, but it will implode eventually. As the productive citizens move out and onward, the remainder will become a less productive and a larger burden with no chance of recovery by the state. The only conclusion will be bankruptcy. The question remaining will be which generation will be impacted? Time will tell and history will repeat itself. We are on course as surveys show the start of business demise in the state.
