Minivan plows into Gurnee convenience store

A Gurnee business was badly damaged after a minivan drove into it, taking out the front section of the store.

Gurnee firefighters responded to Daisy's Quick Mart, 726 S. Route 21, after getting the call at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday, Gurnee Fire Department Lt. John Skillman said.

The minivan - driven by an unidentified woman with four children in the car - drove into the front of the store, then the driver threw the vehicle in reverse and shot all the way back out to Route 21, stopping at the corner of Route 21 and Manchester Road, Skillman said.

No one was injured. Skillman said the store has been hit by a car before but said there's nothing about the store that makes it an easy target.

Gurnee police are investigating, but no charges had been filed late Tuesday.
