Sample restaurant offerings at Commons Crawl

Geneva Commons is hosting a new event each month that gives you a chance to get out of the house on Monday nights while also helping out local charities.

The Randall Road mall is starting The Commons Crawl, with the first crawl set for May 17.

They are selling a maximum of 300 tickets, at $25 apiece, to the crawl.

For the money you'll get a sampling of different food at three different restaurants in the Commons - California Pizza Kitchen, Claddagh Irish Pub and Houlihan's.

Each crawl has a different theme.

The first is Margarita Madness. With your tickets, you'll get appetizers and hors d'oeuvres at each restaurant, and will get to try two total of featured margaritas that night.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society of the Fox Valley.

Cathy Charhut, property manager of Geneva Commons, said she and her marketing team were trying to come up with an event that would be fun for people, as well as help others out.

"We decided to do something for couples or anyone who wants to come out," she said. "We thought it would be a good way to give to the charities too, which nowadays really need some help."

Along with the changing themes each month, the charities also will change.

The crawl on June 21 is entitled Brew Ha Ha, and will feature different beers along with the appetizers. The proceeds will benefit the Anderson Animal Shelter.

July 19th's event is a Taste of the Tropics to benefit Marklund at Mill Creek.

A Martini Mixer will take place Aug. 16 to benefit Living Well Cancer Resource Center.

And finally, on September 20, the crawl will be called Vino Amore, and feature red and white wines. Proceeds will benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

If you order your tickets in advance they are $25. Tickets may be available on the night of the crawl for $30, but Charhut recommends calling in advance to be sure.

Patrons will pick up their tickets, wrist bands and a goody bag on the night of each event at Houlihan's and then can be on their way to enjoy the crawl.
