OSHA fines Carpentersville company for Wisconsin plant violations
WHITEHALL, Wis. -- A federal safety organization says a Carpentersville company has agreed to pay $535,000 in fines stemming from safety violations at a Wisconsin plant.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced the settlement Wednesday with Milk Specialties Co.
The company's products include a protein supplements for dairy cows.
The fines stem from a 2008 inspection at the company's Whitehall plant. OSHA says the plant was cited for violations including combustible-dust hazards and having untrained employees working in potentially dangerous areas.
A message left at the company headquarters was not immediately returned Wednesday.
Whitehall is in western Wisconsin, about 50 miles south of Eau Claire.
