Thank for help in cancer fight

National Volunteer Week, April 18-24, is designated to recognize all volunteers and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism. At the American Cancer Society in Batavia, we are especially grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who contribute their time and financial support.

We especially would like to thank the committee who are spearheading the efforts to bring Relay For Life of North and South McHenry County and Northern Fox Valley to our communities. In this difficult economy, cancer patients and their families need the support of the American Cancer Society.

This year, the theme of National Volunteer Week is "Celebrating People in Action," and that is just what American Cancer Society volunteers are - people in action. The actions of the American Cancer Society volunteers make it possible for our community to come together and take up the fight against cancer. We celebrate the lives of those who have cancer, remember those lost to the disease, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

To our more than 8,000 local volunteers, we thank you for all you give us. If you are not currently a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Fox Valley, please join us.
