Fewer mandates, less mercury

In case you haven't realized, the cap-and-trade legislation will mandate when people sell their homes they must update them with the new energy efficient appliances, furnaces, water heaters, microwave ovens, gas ovens, refrigerators, washer and dryers, etc. In my opinion, this will cost Americans thousands of dollars, prevent them from selling their homes and is another totalitarian mandate for a fraudulent theory called "Global Warming." If Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank weren't enough to depress the real estate, which caused the current recession, this will only add to it. Please contact your representative and senator and tell them please, defeat cap and trade and these governmental mandates that are totalitarian in effect. The mandate we have to put mercury light bulbs in all of our homes ignores the fact that if your child knocks over a lamp, you will need to call a hazmat emergency crew to clean it up. In addition, what is there to prevent a terrorist from going into an Ace Hardware, Home Depot, etc. and throwing all of the mercury bulbs on the floor and thereby cracking them open putting those businesses out of service until hazmat cleanup has been done? Is there a brain in Washington? These types of bulbs should be kept under lock and key and distributed one by one upon purchase so hazmat disasters cannot put these businesses out of commission.
