Award-winning exhibit at the Elk Grove Historical Museum

The newest exhibit, "From Recipe to Formula, The Tasty Tale of Elk Grove Jarosch Bakery," opened in early March and has received over 500 visitors. It's the story of the Jarosch Bakery.

The exhibit displays Jarosch's history in Elk Grove along with its beginnings in Germany. Learn how everyday recipes are converted into mass quantities.

The exhibit features never before seen images of the bakery before it arrived over 50 years ago in Elk Grove Village.

Visitors have enjoyed the video, audio, historic photos and activities for children. Every visitor to the exhibit receives a coupon to take to the Jarosch Bakery to exchange for a free cookie.

Elk Grove residents and history buffs alike can take in this interesting exhibit for free. The exhibit was funded in part by a grant received by the Illinois Association of Museums and has just received a Superior Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society. Superior awards are given to those exhibitions that display excellence in creativity, historical research, and utilization of resources. This is the top honor awarded by the Illinois State Historical Society.

The Elk Grove Historical Museum is located at 399 Biesterfield in Elk Grove Village and is a facility of the Elk Grove Park District. For information or to schedule an appointment call (847) 439-3994. Drop in hours for the month of May are Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
