Leyden sails past Hinsdale Central
A 30-mph wind blowing in couldn't stop Leyden's offense in an 11-0 West Suburban Conference crossover baseball victory in five innings Thursday at Hinsdale Central.
Eric Palmer threw a 2-hitter with 3 strikeouts and no walks as the Eagles (14-8) broke a three-game losing streak. Palmer also went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Carlos Olavarria went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and Jeremy Stawychny drove in 2 runs.
Stevenson 21, Fremd 10 (5 inn.): Stevenson (20-1) scored 11 unanswered runs in the final two innings as Northwestern-bound Kyle Ruchim hit 2 homers and drove in 7 runs. Host Fremd (10-8) tied it at 10-10 with a 7-run third as Clint Terry homered, Evan Wright and Sean Stutzman tripled and Kurt Kaufman was 2-for-3.
