Title IX limits sports for boys
I was saddened though not surprised by the article by Ms. McGraw about the Obama administration's pledge to strengthen Title IX.
I have no problems with girls and women being given the opportunity to compete in sports and other activities and have the equipment and facilities to compete. I do have a problem when those opportunities come at the expense of boys' and men's teams which is currently what is being done.
Every year wrestling, swimming, golf, and other boys' and men's teams are sacrificed on the altar of Title IX. The fact that activists for Title IX seem to rejoice in this fact is a disgrace. Instead of trying to find ways to provide opportunities for all athletes they are content to only look out for themselves and its too bad for those that are run over in the process.
I hope Ms. McGraw and the other champions of Title IX never have to explain to their sons and brothers why their sport is not as important as their daughters' and sisters'.
