Roadwork schedule doesn't make sense
Regarding the resurfacing of I-290, are we treated as customers or those who don't have a choice?
Does anyone think they can work on 27 miles at one time? Why can't they work in sections they can finish in one month instead? It would be smaller sections of misery and more open road. And do they own all of those traffic cones or concrete barriers or must they rent to cover such a large area - either way, a waste.
The tollway authority did the same thing with even more miles and over a longer period of time because they also have a captive audience. Would anyone accept a painter or other tradesman to work on all of the houses in the neighborhood at the same time, making a mess for everyone for months? Of course not.
And if this approach is so much cheaper, why don't they just work on all of the roads at the same time - sorry if I gave them an idea but you can see how ludicrous this is. Sure too small would be expensive, but 27 miles?
If we could just move away easily we would, but instead we have to put up with road construction that is worse than it has to be.
And because it is for such a long stretch, the construction speed limit is ignored by most. It is like the boy who cried wolf three times. People drive for miles without seeing any construction but when everyone should be going slow they incorrectly take it for granted there isn't any work going on. Dangerous for the worker.
The lack of customer service and the expectation of traffic going slow for such long stretches both just defy common sense.
