Iowa State's McDermott: No comment on Creighton
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State coach Greg McDermott is not commenting on media reports that he has been offered the basketball coaching job at Creighton.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that McDermott was offered the Creighton job, which opened when Oregon hired Dana Altman over the weekend. The Ducks are expected to discuss the replacement for coach Ernie Kent on Monday afternoon.
McDermott declined an interview when he was approached Monday by an Associated Press reporter on the Iowa State campus. Creighton athletic director Bruce Rasmussen has not returned multiple messages seeking comment.
McDermott led Northern Iowa to the NCAA tournament three straight years before leaving for Iowa State in 2006. He has never had a winning season at Iowa State. McDermott made $900,000 last year and was signed with Iowa State through 2015.
