Cubs, Sox to play for Crosstown Cup trophy

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs and White Sox have a new name for their interleague series and a trophy to go with it -- the BP Crosstown Cup.

The team with the most wins in the annual series will be awarded the namesake trophy. If they split the six games, the trophy will go to the team that wins the last game.

Cubs executive chairman Tom Ricketts says the new format "recognizes the excitement of winning the crosstown series," and that fans will have a chance to win prizes through the promotion.

White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf says the arrangement "will elevate Chicago's summer baseball rivalry to a new level for fans on both sides of town."

The teams will meet June 11-13 at Wrigley Field and June 25-27 at U.S. Cellular Field.
