Please help Renz Addiction Center
Our human services centers in our communities are at risk of shutting down. I recently spoke to a concerned employee at the The Renz Addiction Center in Elgin. The Renz Center is a nonprofit organization that provides counseling services for people suffering from addiction behaviors such as gambling and drug addiction to many people in the Northwest suburbs. They also provide HIV prevention advice and stress management.
Due to this year's Illinois budget cuts, The Renz Center has been struggling and has had to lay off workers to stay open. During these economic times, this is not the time to lay off Illinois workers. The Renz Center needs to continue to keep their workers on staff every week. Many people in Illinois suffering from addiction behaviors depend on places like the Renz Addiction center to live healthy and stable lives, but the lack of funding places human services organizations at risk of shutting down all together. Please call your state representative and senator and urge them to support human services funding.
