Why doesn't U-46 consult the kids?
Do public school students (Elgin) have the right or privilege to be involved in the current discussions regarding "budget cuts" that are now being considered with those of the Elgin public school system and the board of education headquarters?
Wouldn't it be proper, to a degree, to allow students to suggest some of their ideas or improvements, which, of course, have a direct impact on their daily activities? Why must it be the adult leaders making all the decisions?
Just think, if some of the youngsters offered ideas that were completely overlooked by their elders. Yes, ideas or changes that may be great ideas sometimes used in other schools but never came to our schools. Maybe we should listen to them.
Basically, what I am trying to pass along is that there are any number of brains out there in our school rooms. Let's test them. Let's see if we can squeeze one or two new ideas from anyone, anywhere, that will give us some meat that we can chew.
