Health care law will benefit all

I voted for Bill Foster because I believe he is an intellectual and forward-thinking individual. He has firsthand experience with small businesses and what it takes to be successful. He was sent to represent us in a time of great need. Status quo was not working and great change was and is needed. He has voted for that necessary change.

The actions that have been taken by Congress are steps toward long-term solutions. These issues have been sidestepped for too long.

With all the misinformation and fear mongering that has occurred, it is easy to see why people might be fearful. It is important to take some time and realize that the health care bill will help you, not hurt you.

My nieces, whose mother died at the age of 50 of breast cancer, can now be screened. Before this legislation, they could be eliminated from an insurance policy because they are considered high risk.

We were already paying a hidden cost for the uninsured. As a result of this legislation, insurance companies must spend at least 80 percent of the collected premiums on us, the consumers, instead of profits for themselves.

I have no insurance through my work as I am a part-time employee. I now know that if my husband were to lose his job, I could still be insured. I now know that my daughter who is 21 will have insurance coverage after college. I know that my elderly mother will receive more coverage for her medications. I could keep going, and if you also looked around, you would see how the health care bill affects many people in a positive manner.
