Geneva man held on child sex assault charges
A Geneva man was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a young girl over a period of two years, authorities said.
Luis Hernandez, 42, of the 700 block of Samantha Circle, faces one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13, a Class X felony, and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Kane County court records.
Prosecutors said Hernandez sexually assaulted the victim beginning two years ago, when the girl was 10, and the abuse continued until just recently. They were not strangers, authorities said.
Hernandez was arrested Thursday and was being held in the county jail Friday on $1 million bond. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
According to court records, Hernandez was convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery in Geneva in 2005 and sentenced to a year of probation.
His next court date is April 29 in front of Circuit Judge Timothy Q. Sheldon.
