Brady returns show he paid no fed taxes in 2009

SPRINGFIELD -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady reports income of nearly $120,000 in his 2009 tax returns, but paid no federal taxes due to losses in his family business.

That's according to tax documents Brady allowed reporters to review Friday afternoon.

A statement from Brady's office says his taxable income from 2009 fell under an IRS provision to help struggling small businesses survive by allowing the sales of assets.

His returns show Brady did pay $3,309 in state taxes.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn released to reporters copies of his own returns earlier this week. He criticized Brady for not doing the same. Several hours later, Brady announced he would make his tax documents available for review.
