Dollar Tree store to open in Arlington Heights

A Dollar Tree store will open in two months in the Arlington Towne Square shopping center at the southwest corner of Arlington Heights and Golf roads.

The store, which previously housed a Walgreens and Card & Party, has been vacant almost three years, said John Toliopoulos, property manager for PNE Properties, owner of the center.

He appeared at this week's village board meeting on behalf of the store and the center. The board approved larger signs for the store, especially the side facing Arlington Heights Road, which is separated from the street by the center's parking lot.

Toliopoulos told trustees the parking lot will be repaired after some construction is finished.

Trustee Joseph Farwell noted the board approved this sign variance without much discussion because of the unusual situation where store's frontage is on the parking lot.

Toliopoulos said only one space of 1,400 square feet in the center is unrented.
