Des Plaines schools appoints administrator

The Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board has appointed Janice Rashid, former Central School principal and current District 62 curriculum director, as the assistant superintendent for instructional services, effective July 1.

She replaces Diep Nguyen, who was recently appointed assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for Evanston Township High School.

Rashid has been with District 62 since 2006 as the principal of Central Elementary School. In 2009, she was appointed District 62's director of curriculum.

That same year she was recognized for her contributions to communications and student achievement with District 62 Lighthouse, Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel, and Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association Distinguished Service Awards.
