Children's chorus to give concert

The Fox Valley Children's Chorus will host its spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive in Geneva.

Over the summer, composer Paul Bouman of Oak Park wrote three pieces exclusively for the Fox Valley Children's Chorus to perform in the first public venue in April. The featured pieces are "The Lamplighter," "The Duty of Children" and "Marching Song."

Bouman is a retired teacher and music director from the Chicago area.

He is a nationally known clinician for children's choirs and has written extensively for them. He has written two sets of rhymes using texts from "A Child's Garden of Verse" by Robert Louis Stevenson which the church has performed in recent years.

In addition, a spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 30, at the Congregational Church of Batavia

Also, the chorus is looking forward to singing the national anthem at the Kane County Cougars baseball game on Friday, May 7.

Now in its fourth season, the Fox Valley Children's Chorus includes more than 50 children from second grade to 15 years old as members.
