Carpentersville man charged with sexual abuse, battery
A Carpentersville man faces charges of aggravated domestic battery and aggravated criminal sexual abuse that police say stemmed from a sexual encounter that became forcible.
Police said that Jeffery J. Soto, 35, of the 0-100 block of Evergreen Lane, had been arguing with the woman all day Monday because she had had an intimate relationship with another man while Soto was in prison.
Soto and the woman were having sex just after midnight Tuesday but began arguing about her other relationship again, Cmdr. Tim Bosshart said. At that point, Bosshart said, the woman wanted to stop having sex with Soto but he wouldn't let her; and he threw her on the bed and began to choke her.
He released his grip when her mother ran into the room, Bosshart said.
Soto's bond was set hours later at $90,000.
He was unable to post the $9,000 cash needs to get out while the case is pending and remained in the Kane County lockup.
Soto is due to appear in court on the charges on May 20 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
If found guilty of either charge, he could spend between three and seven years in prison.
