Wolves take 3-1 series lead

MILWAUKEE - The Chicago Wolves scored a goal midway through the second period and hung on to beat the Milwaukee Admirals 1-0 in Game 4 at the Bradley Center on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in their AHL playoff series.

Spencer Machacek scored on a backhanded shot from the right faceoff circle to beat Admirals goaltender Mark Dekanich.

Wolves goaltender Peter Mannino stopped 28 shots for his second shutout in four games this postseason. The last three games in the series have been shutout decisions, with the Wolves winning 3-0 in Game 2 and Milwaukee prevailing 6-0 in Game 3.

"It was a grind," said Wolves coach Don Lever. "Both teams tried to play a mistake-free game. I like the way we responded and showed our character."
