Council to lead workshop on rainwater management
On Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, join the Fox Valley Branch of the U.S. Green Building Council - Chicago Chapter for a tour, networking, and education event on rainwater management and harvesting at Aquascape, 901 Aqualand Way, St. Charles.
New members and anyone interested in membership are invited to the new member orientation at 5:30 p.m. Networking and registration begins at 6 p.m., with the educational program starting at 6:15 p.m.
During the educational session, they will explore a variety of creative water management techniques applicable on any scale from rooftops to parking lots that will help ease the burden on the stormwater systems by capturing, filtering and infiltrating excess water. These systems are modeled after nature and incorporate a series of aquatic habitats in design while lessening the demand on our potable water supplies by utilizing captured water.
A building tour of the LEED certified Aquascape facility will follow the program.
Online preregistration is required. To preregister, visit www.usgbc-chicago.org, click on the event on the front page of the Web site. Registration fee is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.
